Immune Boost Tonic Recipe

Back-to-school season has begun.. and with it, I am preparing for cold season. Water Kefir is great for providing support to your immune system, but sometimes you need concentrated doses of those vitamins and minerals that charge our bodies.

I whipped up a batch of my favourite Immune Boost Tonic today. I try to keep this mixture in my fridge all winter and encourage everyone to drink it whenever they can. The kids and I sometimes just eat it by the spoonful. It tastes so great!

 

Immune Boost Tonic

makes: 1-500ml jar ~15 servings

serving size: 1 TBSP in hot water

  • 1 whole lemon - sliced thinly into rounds, moons or triangles (your preference)

  • 2" chunk of ginger - peeled and finely grated

  • 2" chunk of turmeric root - peeled and finely grated

  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon

  • 2 tsp whole cloves

  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

  • honey - enough to fill the jar

Pack all spices into jar and pour honey over the top. Use a spoon or chopstick to stir up the ingredients until fully combined. Seal tightly and leave in your fridge. Combine 1 Tbsp in a mug of hot water, let steep for 3-4 minutes and enjoy!
